The Liberty Jump Team Vision: A team of commemorative jumpers who safely and accurately jump into difficult drop zones in the U.S. and Europe with static-line round parachutes to honor and remember the brave men and women of World War II, and the Veterans of all wars.
Formed in 2006, the Liberty Jump Team is a charitable 501(c)(3)-non-profit corporation recognized by IRS statutes as an educational and research entity. The work of the team is supported by donations from the general public and Team Members volunteering their time and resources.
Team members are Active Duty, Reserve and National Guard members, service or combat Veterans who served during peacetime or in Vietnam, Grenada, Panama, Somalia, Haiti, Iraq or Afghanistan. Several are Purple Heart recipients (combat wounded). Jumpers range in age from their 20’s to their 70’s and many served as U.S. Army Paratroopers. There are also representatives from Canada and many other countries around the world.
The Team honors Veterans by conducting airborne operations on original World War II Drop Zones in Europe, and as part of the official programs during commemoration events in Normandy, Holland and Belgium, and at air shows across the U.S.
Team members use modern military, static-line, steerable round canopy parachutes to re- create historic airborne operations, jumping from World War II-era C-47 Dakota aircraft in World War II uniforms and equipment including M1C ‘steel pot’ Paratrooper helmets and M1942 jump suits representing Paratroopers from the elite 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions.
Team members jump in place of our Veterans to honor them, to show other generations how these great Americans contributed to winning America’s wars, and to commemorate the Army’s early airborne operations
Recent Airborne Operations: Normandy, France 2006-2018; Arnhem, Nijmegen & Eindhoven, Netherlands; Bastogne, Belgium; Department of Defense Joint Services Open House Air Show 2009, commemorative jumps at Ft. Bragg, Ft. Campbell and Ft. Benning; Air Shows across the U.S. 2007-2018 including the California International Airshow, Wings Over Dallas WWII Air Show, and the Westfield International Air Show.
